Samar Singla (SS): Have a vision: To succeed, you need to have a distinct purpose and core belief that is evident in all aspects of your business. Identify your vision and stay dedicated towards it.
Think Big: You can achieve big, only if you think big. If you believe something can be done, you’ll surely find ways to accomplish that. All you have to do is believe.
Take calculated risks: Risk-taking is crucial on the road to success. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes. It is better to fail numerous times to reach the milestone of success once. There is no point wasting time by not experimenting in fear of failure.
Hire smart: The most important strategy for success is to hire people who are diverse, passionate and perhaps smarter than you and then value their perspectives and opinions.
Empower employees: Let your employees make their own plans and take their own decisions. Give them the freedom and space to make mistakes and take responsibility of fixing them when they happen. Micro-managing hinders employee growth and damages their confidence.
Engage the team: Encourage your team to share their ideas and thoughts, and participate effectively in the business. This instills in them a sense of confidence and belonging towards the organization, and they can even contribute during critical situations.
Give feedback: Giving a timely and constructive feedback to your team goes a long way in promoting their growth. It also enables them to channelize their efforts in the right direction.

(SS) Never stop learning: Learning is an ongoing process as long as you are alive. The moment you start thinking you know enough and refuse to learn further, you cease to grow.
Have a plan: Planning helps you have a direction and measure the outcomes of your efforts.
Make your own rules: To succeed, you need to have the courage to make your own rules and play the game your way.
Dream big: Even if people think your goals are insane, keep dreaming. It’s your dreams that will eventually give you the strength to succeed and turn them into reality.
What are the most important qualities of a leader ?
(SS): The most important thing is to be able to constantly inspire your team to dream bigger and do greater things. Encourage your team to be creative, come up with their own ideas, take ownership of their work, don’t be afraid of taking risks, try to solve problems at their end and help them grow along with company’s growth.
Can we teach people to become better leaders ? (is it an inborn skill or can it has to be taught)
(SS): Well, I would say that this is a skill which is partly inborn and partly acquired. You are born with a certain set of traits but they get refined and perfected over time with education, training and experience. More than anything else, it’s a matter of being in the right place at the right time.
How important is teamwork in achieving success ?
(SS): Teamwork is absolutely vital to achieve success. It is a synergistic way of working. Team members can share ideas and solve challenges together. With every team member having unique skills and abilities, they are able to contribute effectively to the team’s overall growth.
The secret of effective time management?
(SS): Stick to the plan: Make sure you’re investing your time in activities that support your business goals. Planning is critically important for long term success.
Prioritize: You only have certain number of hours everyday. So, prioritize and get the most important things done first.
Say no: Don’t engage yourself in activities that suck your time without yielding any worthy results. Simply say ‘No’ to time consuming unnecessary meetings and conversations.
Delegate: The art of being able to effectively delegate your work takes your output to a completely different level. Don’t waste time in activities that don’t require your direct involvement. Delegate them to others and focus on your top priorities.
The secret to handling failure effectively ?
(SS): Failure seems super scary when you look forward but perhaps enjoyable when you look back. Every failure is a learning experience and contributes to your journey towards success. Nobody remembers your failures, once you succeed. People will always know you by your biggest success.
How do you prioritize work and life?
(SS): Entrepreneurship is a challenging and demanding space. It needs a lot of passion and persistence towards your venture. So, maintaining work-life balance is definitely a difficult task. But something that has worked in my favor is the fact that I started at a quite young age which made it easier for me to get accustomed to this kind of working schedule.

(SS) The leaders I admire the most are Jack Ma, Founder and Chairman of Alibaba group and Ben Horowitz, an eminent entrepreneur and author. They inspire me to dream higher and never be afraid of taking risks and tough decisions.

(SS) A lot of people have ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them. Dreams only come true when you have a plan, a sharp focus and the strength to overcome all challenges. There is no substitute to hard-work and persistence. And at the end you need no explanation, your work itself speaks for you.
