MK Stalin elected as party President by DMK
After the demise of M Karunanidhi, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MK Stalin was elected as the Party President at the General Council meeting on Tuesday. The name of the 65-year-old Stalin was proposed by the secretaries of all 65 districts for the post. He was the only nomination. Stalin has become the second president of the party, a post held by his father for 49 years.

Diktat for Tripura bureaucrats: Avoid jeans, cargo pants
As per the instructions of the Tripura government, Tripura bureaucrats will have to avert themselves from wearing jeans and cargo pants while attending high level meetings and functions. They are also instructed against using cell phones during the meetings. A memorandum regarding the same has been released on Aug 20 by the Principal Secretary for Revenue, Education and Information and Cultural Affairs, Sushil Kumar.

Nirmala Sitharaman holds bilateral talks with Thai’s top leadership
Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman conducted bilateral talks with Deputy PM and Defence Minister of Thailand General Prawit Wongsuwan in Bangkok on Aug 27.  The PM of Thailand General Prayuth Chan-o-cha was also called on by Sitharaman. On a 2-day official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand, both sides discussed issues relating to defence cooperation between the two countries so as to strengthen the ties.

Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi visits flood relief camp in Kerala
Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi is on a 2 –day visit to the state. He arrived in Thiruvananthapuram today morning and then taking a helicopter to Chengannur in Alappuzha district, he visited the relief camp at Christian College. He spoke to the people at the center and also visited a camp at an engineering college. He will be visiting the flood-affected areas in the Wayanad district on Wednesday, Aug 29.
