KXIP defeat DC as Sam Curran becomes youngest to take IPL hat-trick

English all-rounder Sam Curran became the youngest bowler to take a hat-trick in IPL aged 20 years and 302 days as his team KXIP defeated DC by 14 runs on Monday. Delhi Capitals lost their last seven wickets for just eight runs in 17 balls while chasing a target of 167. The victory was KXIP’s third in four matches.

I was asked to explode CRPF convoy: J&K car blast accused confesses

J&K DGP Dilbag Singh has said the police took less than 36 hours to arrest the man involved in the blast that occurred on March 30 in a car near a CRPF convoy in Banihal. The accused confessed to his crime, saying, “I was asked on phone to explode the convoy. My task was to drive…and press the switch.”

ASAT test created 400 pieces of debris; a ‘terrible thing’: NASA

NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine has said India’s anti-satellite (ASAT) missile test created 400 pieces of orbital debris and led to new dangers for astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS). “That is a terrible, terrible thing,” Bridenstine added. However, he said ISS astronauts are still safe, and that the space station will be manoeuvred if needed to avoid the debris.

Saudi gave homes to journo’s kids to compensate his killing: Report

The four children of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi have received multimillion-dollar homes and are being paid thousands of dollars per month by the kingdom’s authorities as compensation for the killing of their father, a report said. Khashoggi was killed and dismembered by Saudi operatives in October 2018 at the kingdom’s consulate in Istanbul. His body has not been recovered yet.

BCCI Ombudsman summons Pandya, Rahul to depose over KWK comments

The Supreme Court-appointed BCCI Ombudsman Justice (Retd) DK Jain has issued notices to Team India players Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul to appear for deposition for their comments on women on ‘Koffee With Karan’. “As per principles of natural justice, I need to hear their side. It’s up to them.. to decide when they want to appear,” Justice Jain said.

Stating that Congressmen are asking why the Prime Minister took credit for the A-SAT missile test, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday asked, “If not Prime Minister, then who should have spoken about it?” He added, “Our scientists were ready with A-SAT in 2007 itself but these (Congress) people didn’t allow it…Our Prime Minister told the scientists to march ahead.”

Ram Prasad Sharma, a 107-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh’s Semra village in Khandauli town, is set to vote in Lok Sabha elections for the 17th time. “I haven’t been keeping well, but I’ll definitely go to vote this time also,” he said. NZ cancel Under-19 tour of B’desh after Christchurch terror attack

New Zealand Cricket have cancelled their under-19 team’s scheduled tour of Bangladesh in the wake of last month’s terror attack at two mosques in Christchurch. New Zealand Cricket Chairman Greg Barclay said the cricket boards of the two countries agreed that proceeding with the April tour would be “insensitive and inappropriate so soon” after the attack that left 50 dead.

Twitter poll to replace coin toss in cricket, ICC pranks cricket fans

The ICC took to Twitter to announce new rules for cricket including Instagram handles on jerseys as part of its April Fools’ Day prank. “The tradition of…coin toss will be replaced by a Twitter poll, allowing fans…to decide who bats and bowls!” it wrote. ICC also said that Test players will be allowed to wear shorts in hot playing conditions.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is likely to hold an online auction of PNB scam accused Nirav Modi’s 13 luxury cars on April 18. The cars include Rolls Royce Ghost, Porsche Panamera, two Mercedes Benz, Toyota Fortuner, among others. This comes after the income-tax department’s recovery of ₹54.84 crore from the sale of Nirav Modi’s paintings.

Housing parent buys home rental platform FastFox for ₹100 cr

Elara Technologies, the parent firm of real-estate portal ‘Housing.com’, has acquired home rental marketplace FastFox, at a valuation of just under ₹100 crore at the time of this acquisition. Elara Technologies also owns property portal ‘PropTiger.com’ and ‘Makaan.com’. Founded in 2014, FastFox has reportedly raised ₹40 crore in disclosed funding till date.

Titan increases stake in CaratLane to 69.47% at ₹99.99 crore

Tata Groups’ Titan has increased its stake in omni-channel jewellery startup CaratLane from 66.39% to 69.47% for ₹99.99 crore. Titan subscribed to over 30 lakh additional shares to increase its stake in CaratLane on March 30, the company said in a filing. Earlier in 2016, Titan had picked up a majority stake in CaratLane for ₹357 crore.

The cyber wing of Kerala police on Monday arrested 12 people and registered a case against 16 others for sharing child pornography through social media. In the raid named ‘Operation P Hunt’, police seized various laptops, phones and other devices. “The operation is still continuing and more arrests are likely,” Additional DGP Manoj Abraham said.

Bombay HC urges Kotak to follow RBI’s shareholding direction

The Bombay High Court denied interim relief for the third time to Kotak Mahindra Bank, urging promoters to declare they’ve complied with RBI’s direction to dilute their shareholding. “If promoters haven’t…[challenged] the order, RBI is bound to take action,” it added. RBI had asked Uday Kotak to reduce his stake in the bank from 30% to 20% by December 2018.

SBI seeks Goyal and Etihad’s exit for Jet’s revival: Reports

State Bank of India (SBI), the biggest lender to Jet Airways, has reportedly proposed a new plan to revive the carrier that involves the exit of Founder Naresh Goyal and second-largest shareholder Etihad Airways. The lender plans a fund infusion of ₹9,535 crore in the carrier, reports stated. This includes ₹3,800 crore capital from two new investors, reports further said.
