Lashing out at Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for making personal remarks regarding his marital life, Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday asked the YSRCP to desist from such ugly political discourse – and snapped back at Jagan in the same breath. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday, while criticising all the political leaders who have been opposing the government’s move to make English as the medium of instruction in state-run schools, launched a bitter personal attack against Pawan Kalyan. He said, “I ask cinema actor Pawan Kalyan – you have three wives, probably having four or five children. I want to ask, in which medium of education are you making them study?” Reacting to these comments, Pawan Kalyan said, “Every time I criticise, they launch a counter-attack by talking about my three marriages. You too get married, who is stopping you? Why is he so disappointed? I had to remarry because it didn’t work for me.” He further said, “Is it because of my three marriages that you were in jail for two years?” He added, “Please talk decently.” Pawan said that he and his party were criticising the policy decisions of the government, and expect only healthy criticism in return. Clarifying his opposition to English being made the medium of instruction in state government schools, he said, “Nobody is denying that English is a global language. But there should be a proper method behind its implementation.” Stating that the sand policy amendment in the state was a failure which resulted in many dying by suicide due to unemployment, he said, “Because of the sand policy amendment, within four months the state has turned chaotic. Without training the teachers and imparting English skills, how can they (government) suddenly make a major transformation?” Besides attacking Pawan Kalyan and TDP president Chandrababu Naidu, Jagan had also attacked Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. Meanwhile, YSRCP supporters have been sharing a video of Pawan Kalyan promoting Oakridge International School – where his son studies.
