Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj passed away at the age of 67 on Tuesday. Swaraj, who had served as External Affairs Minister from 2014 to 2019, reportedly suffered a heart attack and was admitted to Delhi’s AIIMS. Speaking about former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj’s demise, AIIMS spokesperson said, “Doctors tried their best to revive her…for more than 70 minutes and all treatment measures were taken to get her out of the critical condition.” “However, it didn’t work and she breathed her last at 10.50 pm,” the spokesperson added. She had tweeted about revocation of Article 370 and bifurcation of J&K, hours before her death. “Thank you Prime Minister. Thank you very much. I was waiting to see this day in my lifetime,” she tweeted at 7:23 PM. She had declined to contest this year’s Lok Sabha elections citing health issues. Swaraj had undergone kidney transplant at AIIMS in 2016. Condoling the death Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia announced, “Delhi government will observe two days state mourning as a mark of respect in the memory of former Chief Minister”. Swaraj had served as Delhi Chief Minister in 1998 for two months.
