ISRO opens its 1st visitors gallery to watch rocket launches
In a first, ISRO opened a visitors’ gallery with 5,000 capacity at Andhra Pradesh’s Sriharikota island on Sunday. The gallery has a clear line of sight to two launch pads and large screens to explain launcher and satellite features, ISRO said. 32-year-old dentist from Telangana killed in US car crash
A 32-year-old dentist from Telangana was among two persons killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Chicago, US. Dr Arshad Mohammed was killed after a car travelling on the wrong side of the road struck his car, police said in a statement. Mohammed was pursuing an advanced medical course at the University of Illinois.
Afghan Vice President survives assassination attempt by Taliban
Afghan Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum survived an assassination attempt by the Taliban after the militant group attacked his convoy in the province of Balkh on Saturday. One of his bodyguards was killed while two others were injured in the attack. This is the second assassination attempt on Dostum since the former warlord returned from self-imposed exile last year.

Jet Airways pilots postpone strike over unpaid salary to April 15
Jet Airways pilots’ union National Aviator’s Guild (NAG) has postponed its strike over non-payment of salaries to April 15. The union had threatened to stop flying from April 1 if no clarity was provided on their salary payments by March 31. This comes after the crisis-hit airline’s management offered to clear the remaining 87.5% of December salaries to pilots.

Google Photos is launching a new ‘Crop & adjust’ option which will allow users to crop the photos of documents to remove backgrounds and clean up the edges. The option is rolling out for Android users this week, Google Photos tweeted. The platform will reportedly offer the option automatically on recognising photos of documents like receipts.

17-yr-old girl killed in suspected honour killing; 3 held
A 17-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her father in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar in a suspected case of honour killing, police said on Sunday. The father, who was against the girl’s friendship with a boy in her college, allegedly tried to burn her dead body with the help of two of her maternal uncles. The three were later arrested.

Amazon CEO and world’s richest person Jeff Bezos’ phone was hacked by the Saudi government, his security chief Gavin de Becker has claimed. Texts between Bezos and former TV anchor Lauren Sánchez were leaked by American newspaper National Enquirer in January, claiming they were dating. Becker alleged Saudi targeted Bezos-owned Washington Post over the death of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Branches of Vijaya Bank and Dena Bank will function as branches of Bank of Baroda from April 1, when their merger will take effect. The merger will make Bank of Baroda the country’s second-largest public sector bank after State Bank of India. A MiG-27 aircraft of the IAF crashed in Rajasthan’s Sirohi on Sunday. The MiG-27 UPG aircraft was on a routine mission from Uttarlai Air Force base in Barmer when it crashed, with the pilot ejecting safely. 4 injured as 10 coaches of Tapti-Ganga express train derail in Bihar
At least four people have been injured after more than 10 coaches of the Tapti-Ganga express train derailed near Gautam Asthan, Chhapra in Bihar on Sunday morning. 12 people stage protest mid-air inside IndiGo flight, arrested
Twelve men, who staged a protest inside an IndiGo airborne plane headed from Chennai to Madurai, were arrested by Madurai police after the flight landed on Saturday. The protesters, belonging to Thevar caste, were demanding the Madurai airport be renamed after U Muthuramalinga Thevar, an icon of the community. They were associated with Bharatiya Forward Bloc, said police.
Slovakia elects its first female President
Zuzana Čaputová won Slovakia’s Presidential election on Saturday, becoming the country’s first female head of state. A member of the Progressive Slovakia party, Čaputová won 58.3% votes after results from 98.1% of the voting districts were counted. Čaputová defeated European Commission Vice President, Maroš Šefčovič, who was backed by the ruling party, SMER-SD.

Kotak Mahindra Bank has told the RBI that its petition against the regulator’s direction to dilute promoter shareholding doesn’t reflect just one individual’s interest. It added the RBI is “unfairly” creating an impression that it was trying to further promoter Uday Kotak’s interest. RBI had asked Uday Kotak to reduce his stake in the bank to 20% by December 2018.
In a first, Meghalaya polling booths to get ballot papers in braille
For the first time in Meghalaya, braille-enabled ballot papers will be made available at all polling booths. The ballot paper pasted on the EVMs will have the names and symbol of candidates in braille alphabets. The move will facilitate more than 800 visually impaired electorates to vote by a secret ballot.
