Distinguished teamwork
Thank you for providing me with the opportunity to participate in the Inside China article (Business & Economy cover story; August 2012). I am impressed by the knowledge and expertise of the authors and the overall quality of production. Your staff did a terrific job of adding graphics, tables, photos and editorial changes to my humble story. It has received positive reviews from friends, family and colleagues for its level of professionalism and polished appearance. I especially enjoyed reading the China: Read. Learn. Repeat article by Prof. A. Sandeep, Group Editorial Director, Business & Economy. The focus on the Chinese auto industry was spot on and well written. I am pleased to be associated with such a distinguished collection of experts. Thank you once again.

Great Issue on Reverse Innovation/Exnovation
Business & Economy’s issue on ‘Reverse Innovation/Exnovation’ (cover story for the month of October 2012) was simply great and I totally loved it. You have exactly captured the essence of reverse innovation. In my view, Reverse Innovation represents the biggest opportunity for India in sectors as diverse as transportation, energy, health care and education.

Insightful
The Joint Editor of B&E, Steven Philip Warner, has pulled it off once again: picking leaders in the US profits stakes. Yet, his top twenty list of one-year of stellar performance is dependent on managers and their staff out-guessing the markets – which over a longer term, does not occur. We must remember that “In Search of Excellence” was a 3-year best seller, yet its 43 focus firms have died away; and also, one can’t create success by copying the ‘rules of guru’. Warner, however, does look carefully at the operations of his firms and argues for their future success by anchoring them in a wider context – which is what I hope ‘talking heads’ in the media would do more often rather than provide neat ‘sound bites’ or ‘clever quotes’. I wish Warner and B&E all the best for their insightfulness: I will give them 5/5.

Software is in!
This is in reference to the story on the Indian IT sector in Business & Economy (Revisiting IT – Beyond the street). We recently conducted a survey of 20 of the largest IT services providers to create a global software asset inventory. Software assets have always been part of the IT services players’ portfolio of offerings. France’s Sopra or Canada’s CGI have had software assets since the 1980s. Indian players like NIIT also started investing in such assets in the 1990s. Most large services companies have created or are creating the required organisation that will enable them to transition to asset-based IT services.

Great supplement
Despite having computer problems and a cold that delayed me for a feedback, I thank you for writing the cover story on brain mapping in your supplement “TechNext”. I enjoyed it very much. The team has good writers and I particularly enjoyed the flow of the cover story. My only criticism is a misplaced fact. Although Rob Williams is my colleague and we have done research together and written articles that have been published, the fact is that he is not a physicist. But that is a small thing that no one will really notice.

An excellent publication
Business & Economy is an excellent magazine. The amount of hard work that goes into the entire exercise of making of every issue, shows. The best thing about the magazine is the real clarity in terms of mapping of cities across India and the world. The visual appeal is brilliant and this is a great reference point for a layman. It has some of the best articles on finance I have ever read. The articles are insightful, academic, and extremely well thought-out. B&E stands for intellect. Articles range from macroeconomic trends to stock market trends to business news stories. I wish Daily Indian Media all the best in its endeavour to empower readers with invaluable information through its publications.

Logical approach
Business & Economy magazine is an excellent publication that prominently covers the world of business and economy. It has got an academic touch, especially as it is led by noted economist and management guru and highly acclaimed author Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri. It is good for youth of the country, the freshly-minted business managers who have passed out from business schools. It is altogether a different magazine from the general business and economy magazines. While reading it, one will find that it is has extensive coverage of global events as well – both business and policy-related. Its logical approach makes a reader take note of various trends that are being seen around the world.

Deserves appreciation
At the outset, let me convey my appreciation for the contents of BFM, Business & Economy’s finance supplement. The various articles related to banking, finance and marketing are indeed very educative and keep pace with the present day economic scenario. Interviews in the fields of banking and finance are also very thought-provoking and relevant, which, I must say, enrich the knowledge of readers and keep them abreast of the latest happenings. At a time when the global economy is passing through a difficult phase and the Indian economy is struggling to keep up the tempo of growth, such educative and informative pieces will be of immense help to people in the banking and financial sector. My best wishes to the entire team for the excellent work which, I am sure, will continue to enrich many-a-mind in the country.

Analytical
The issues that the magazine has been raising for long are contemporary & analytical at the same time. I always prefer magazines that carry case studies, and feature write-ups on new ideas across various sectors and also carry informative content on special issues concerning the corporate world. Business & Economy has always been on the top of list of magazines. It brings out stories that are very analytical and lends a fresh perspective to its readers. While your investigative stories are without doubt the best possible, they are too little and too infrequent. B&E has become a regular reading affair since the time I came across it two years back. Two of my favourite issue of 2012 were – the ‘100 Most Powerful Companies of India Inc.’ special issue and the joint study with Cornell University on China that followed. They were power-packed. I also loved reading the story ‘Read. Learn. Repeat.’ that talked about growth stories of visionary corporations of China. It was indeed a great effort in total. I appreciate hard work put in by the team in bringing out such great issues that contain pieces that are peppered with great insights. Well done B&E.

Thoughtful
Every issue of Business & Economy magazine is a great compilation of thoughtful and analytical stories. Pick any issue in recent past, and one can understand why the magazine is labelled informative. It helps readers to form a refined perspective about occurrences in various sectors. Fortunately, I got a chance to go through the latest issue on ‘China Unplugged’. In terms of quality, a gamut of issues were covered. The overall presentation style was also very interesting. B&E seems to be strongly focussed on supplying knowledge which is refined. I have gone through various issues of B&E in the past and would say that it is a new genre magazine that is growing in stature by the hour. Wishing that B&E touches new heights with every issue. All the best!

Comprehensive
Business & Economy is a comprehensive magazine, that adequately captures contemporary issues and presents them with exceptional analyses. By getting experts to present their views on various subjects, B&E gives its readers much to learn from. B&E is very useful for every practitioner as it also gives a quick preview of what is happening across various industries in India and overseas.
