A police horse named Morecambe died after falling on to a metal pole while responding to reports of disorder during Blackpool-Fleetwood Town League One match on Monday. Morecambe’s rider fell on to the side of a horsebox and was taken to hospital by air ambulance. Morecambe was ushering fans away from the ground when he fell on to the pole.

The men were executed “for adopting extremist terrorist ideology and forming terrorist cells to corrupt, disrupt security, provoke sectarian strife and damage peace and social security” of the kingdom. They were also accused of cooperating with “hostile parties” against the interests of the country.

Australian World War II freighter ‘SS Iron Crown’ has been discovered 77 years after it was torpedoed in a Japanese submarine attack that sank it within 60 seconds, killing 38 of its 43-member crew. The ship was found about 100 km off the Victorian coast and located using multi-beam sonar technology and a special drop camera, researchers announced on Tuesday.

A 10-year-old US girl named Sara Hinesley, who was born without hands, recently won a national handwriting competition. Puranik Yogendra has become the first Indian-origin person to win an election in Japan, having gotten elected to Tokyo’s Edogawa Ward assembly. The 41-year-old, who’s originally from Pune, went to Japan in the 1990s to pursue further studies and also worked there before joining politics. Edogawa Ward boasts the highest number of Indian residents among Tokyo’s 23 wards.

Saudi welcomes US move to end Iran sanction waivers to India, others

Saudi Arabia has welcomed US’ decision to end Iran sanction waivers granted to eight economies including India and China. Saudi foreign minister Ibrahim al-Assaf said it’s a necessary step to halt Iran’s “destabilizing” policy in the region and “its support and sponsorship of terrorism”. The US demanded all buyers of Iranian oil stop purchases by May 1 or face sanctions.

India to get extra oil from major producers to offset Iran oil loss

India will get additional supplies from other major oil producing countries to compensate for the loss of Iranian oil after US waiver ends, Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Tuesday. “Indian refineries are fully prepared to meet the national demand for petrol, diesel and other petroleum products,” he tweeted. India is the second biggest buyer of Iranian oil after China.
