Parts of central and northern India are likely to experience a heat wave in the coming days, with the maximum temperature expected to hover at 45-degree Celsius. The user took apart the device by removing all the screws, glued the components on to glass, and then framed it. Bike-and-carpooling startup Quick Ride has raised over ₹100 crore in a Series B funding round from Sequoia Capital, Naspers Ventures and Venture Highway, as per filings quoted by Inc42. Further, Naspers Ventures’ Ashutosh Sharma has reportedly been added as director of Quick Ride’s board. Two terrorists killed in encounter in J&K’s Anantnag
Two terrorists were killed in an early morning encounter with security forces in Bijbehara in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday. VRS package may save ₹1,080 cr a year in salary payments: MTNL
MTNL Chairman PK Purwar has said the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) proposed by telecom department could save ₹1,080 crore in annual wage expenses. The scheme would offer an amount equivalent to 35 days of salary for each completed year of service, and 25 days’ salary for each year left till retirement. MTNL expects about 9,500 employees to opt for VRS.
Etihad 1st major airline to operate single-use plastic free flight
The UAE’s flag carrier Etihad Airways has become the first major airline to operate a flight without any single-use plastics on board. Over 95 single-use plastic items including cups, cutlery and headset bags were removed from the Brisbane-bound Earth Day flight which landed on April 22. Plastic items were replaced by sustainable amenity kits, eco-thread blankets and edible coffee cups.
RBI sells entire stake in NABARD, NHB to govt for ₹1,470 cr
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Wednesday said it has divested its entire stake in NABARD and National Housing Bank (NHB) for ₹20 crore and ₹1,450 crore, respectively. The government now holds 100% stake in both the financial institutions, RBI said. The divestment was based on recommendations of the Narasimham Committee-II and a discussion paper prepared by the RBI.
