WhatsApp may no longer allow downloading profile pics of users
WhatsApp has removed the possibility to save profile pictures of individuals in latest Android beta updates and WhatsApp Business beta for iOS, WABetaInfo reported. The beta version does not show the profile sharing button, among other sharing options such as Facebook, Instagram, and other apps. However, the feature reportedly does not block users from taking screenshots of the profile picture.
₹35 lakh of gold hidden in mixer seized at Mangaluru airport
Customs officials at Mangalore International Airport seized 1,052 grams gold worth ₹34.75 lakh from check-in luggage of a SpiceJet passenger who arrived from Dubai on Tuesday. The gold was concealed as two mercury-coated ingots in the motor of a mixer. This comes two months after gold worth ₹4.65 lakh was seized in form of 32 mercury-coated pieces in magnetic bracelets.

Around 2,000 Aadhaar cards dumped on river bank in Tamil Nadu
Around 2,000 Aadhaar cards were dumped near the Mulliyaru river bank in Tiruvarur district in Tamil Nadu, according to revenue officials. The cards meant for distribution to the owners had not been apparently delivered by the post office concerned, the officials said. The cards, bundled in jute bags and abandoned, were found by the children playing in the riverbed.
JNU student commits suicide, had emailed suicide note to professor
A JNU student on Friday committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in a study room at the university, police said. Rishi Joshua, a second year MA student, emailed a suicide note to his English professor before hanging himself, they added. The deceased was undergoing some treatment, as per preliminary enquiry, police further said.

Over 2.7 lakh Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh have been registered by the United Nations, several getting identity cards as their first-ever proof of documentation. The Rohingya Muslims living in Myanmar have not been able to acquire formal citizenship, leaving them stateless and deprived of basic rights. The cards are aimed at improving the accuracy of data on refugees in Bangladesh.

A 23-year-old Sikh man was denied entry into a restaurant in US’ Port Jefferson for wearing a turban. “Throughout my life, I’ve faced verbal abuse and bullying about appearance…However, my basic freedoms of entering public accommodations were never infringed upon,” Gurvinder Grewal said. The restaurant apologised, saying it doesn’t allow headwear on weekends “to more capably identify people”.
Yes Bank recalls ₹1.44 crore in bonus paid to Founder Rana Kapoor
Yes Bank has clawed back performance bonus of ₹1.44 crore paid to Co-founder and former CEO Rana Kapoor for 2014-15 and 2015-16, following directions from the Reserve Bank of India. The private lender did not pay any performance bonus to Kapoor in financial years 2016-17 and 2017-18. Kapoor stepped down in January after RBI declined to give him another term.
