Twenty election officials in Himachal Pradesh allegedly forgot to delete mock votes which got added to the actual votes at five booths during Lok Sabha elections on Sunday. When the officials realised their mistake, they deleted some votes, but their error was noticed, said state’s chief electoral officer. He added that the erring officers are likely to be suspended.

53-yr-old man put plane on autopilot for sex with 15-yr-old, faces jail
US-based 53-year-old millionaire businessman Stephen Bradley Mell put his private plane on autopilot mode in July 2017 to have sex with a 15-year-old girl and is facing five years in jail, police said. Mell came into contact with the girl after her mother approached him to give her flying lessons. He’s currently out of jail on a $1 million bond.
Himachal HC quashes FIR against Jeetendra in sexual assault case
The Himachal Pradesh High Court quashed an FIR against veteran actor Jeetendra filed last year by actor’s cousin alleging sexual assault. The court quashed the FIR citing “inordinate delay” in filing the FIR by the complainant and lack of “sufficient grounds for proceeding” against Jeetendra. It added that inordinate delay in registration of FIR raises “grave doubt” about allegations’ truthfulness.

Tech Mahindra signs defence contract worth ₹300 crore
Tech Mahindra on Tuesday said it has signed its biggest defence contract worth ₹300 crore with Indian Navy. The IT major will implement RFID-based access control system across all naval bases and ships as part of ‘Armed Forces Secure Access Card’ Project. The AFSAC card will replace the existing paper-based identity card for all Navy personnel, including dependents and ex-servicemen.
ICICI Bank to buy 9.9% stake in BSE subsidiary INX for ₹31 crore
ICICI Bank on Monday said it will buy a 9.9% stake in India International Exchange (INX), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) for nearly ₹31 crore. The exchange posted a loss of ₹31 crore in 2018-19 while its total revenue stood at ₹2.25 crore. INX is located at GIFT City in Gujarat.

4-year-old girl dies after falling into borewell in Rajasthan
A four-year-old girl died after she fell into a 440-feet deep borewell in a village in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur district on Monday. She was playing near the borewell when she fell into it and got stuck at a depth of 260 feet. Rescue workers pulled out her body after a 14-hour operation and handed it over to her family on Tuesday.

6,800 people who invested $27 billion get UAE permanent residency
The UAE on Tuesday said it had launched a “Golden Card” permanent residency programme, granting 6,800 permits to foreigners who together had invested 100 billion dirhams ($27 billion). People with “exceptional skills” in medicine, engineering, science and arts are also eligible under the programme. Last year, the UAE announced plans to grant long-term visas to investors, senior scientists and entrepreneurs.

Pakistan rupee continues to fall, reaches another low after IMF deal
Pakistan’s rupee reached a new record low of 153 per dollar on Monday in the wake of a $6 billion loan accord with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). “A market-determined exchange rate” will help Pakistan’s economy, the IMF had said. The country’s central bank, the State Bank of Pakistan, lifted interest rates by 150 basis points on Monday to 12.25%.
