NCLT approves Tata Steel’s ₹800 cr bid to buy Bhushan Energy
The NCLT on Thursday approved the resolution plan of Tata Steel to acquire cash-strapped Bhushan Energy for around ₹800 crore. The tribunal further rejected Bhushan Energy’s former promoter Neeraj Singhal’s objections to Tata Steel’s bid. As part of the resolution, Tata Steel will offer an upfront payment of ₹730 crore and additionally pay ₹50 crore to the company’s operational creditors.
Bids open for developing ₹15,000 crore Jewar airport
The Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) on Thursday invited global players to float bids for development of an international greenfield airport in Uttar Pradesh’s Jewar, officials said. The airport, set to be the biggest in the country when fully operational, will cost an estimated ₹15,000 crore. This would be the second airport in Delhi NCR after Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Myntra to absorb remaining Jabong employees on its payroll
Myntra has announced it will absorb all remaining Jabong employees on its payroll to create a unified workforce. Flipkart-owned Myntra had acquired Jabong for $70 million in 2016. Jabong reportedly had a total of 400 employees in 2018, of which 180 were fired and 100 were absorbed in Myntra after Walmart’s $16-billion deal to acquire 77% stake in Flipkart.

J&J agrees to pay ₹25 lakh each to 67 patients in hip implant case
Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has agreed at Delhi High Court to pay ₹25 lakh each to 67 patients who have undergone revision surgeries for alleged faulty hip implants. J&J also said that if the government provides it with a list of more patients who received a revision surgery, it would pay ₹25 lakh to them too after verifying the claims.
Pakistan Army gives retired Brigadier death penalty for spying
Pakistan Army has sentenced Retired Brigadier Raja Rizwan to death alongside a civilian officer for spying and “leaking sensitive information to foreign agencies in detriment to national security”. It also sentenced Retired Lieutenant General Javed Iqbal to life imprisonment in the same case. Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa endorsed the sentences in a closed-door military trial.
Doctor forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’, says he was terrorised
Arun Gadre, a Pune gynaecologist, claims he was “accosted, cornered and forced to shout Jai Shri Ram” by 4-5 youths while on a morning walk in New Delhi’s Connaught Place on May 26. “One of them said, why are you talking so slowly and asked me to give a big shout…Fortunately, they didn’t harm me…I was terrorised,” the 60-year-old said.

16-yr-old boy dies after continuously playing PUBG for 6 hours in MP
Furqan Qureshi, a 16-year-old boy in Madhya Pradesh’s Neemuch, died while continuously playing mobile game PUBG for six hours. A student of Class 12th, he was at his ancestral home to attend a marriage. “He was brought without pulse…While playing the game a person becomes so excited that it might cause sudden cardiac arrest,” Cardiologist Ashok Jain said.
4 killed, 9 injured after vehicle falls into gorge in J&K
At least four people were killed and nine others were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in fell into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda on Thursday. The vehicle was on its way to Bhalla when it skidded off the road and fell. This is the third such accident in Doda in 24 hours, an official said.
NALSAR University gets notice over non-implementation of quota
The National Commission for Backward Classes on Thursday issued a notice to NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad over non-implementation of Backward Classes quota in admission. The notice was served on the basis of representation received from three persons and a letter from Congress. The Commission has sought the presence of NALSAR Vice-Chancellor on June 4 to address the matter.
Ganga water unfit for drinking, bathing in most places: CPCB
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) said that the water of river Ganga is unfit for direct drinking and bathing at most of the places it travels through in India. Out of 86 live monitoring stations installed across India, only seven areas were found to be fit for drinking after disinfection and 18 were found to be fit for bathing.

US startup unveils 1st of its kind hydrogen-powered air taxi
US-based startup Alaka’i unveiled a “first of its kind” flying taxi Skai that will run on hydrogen fuel cells. Skai’s six-motor design was co-created with BMW’s Designworks. It will carry up to five people or a maximum payload of about 450kg and will be able to fly for up to four hours with a nearly 644-km range, Alaka’i claimed.
