Mumbai is set to host the World Youth Chess Championship in October. World’s fourth-youngest Grandmaster Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa will also be a part of the tournament. “We are expecting at least six world champions in different age groups, making it one of the biggest chess tournaments held in India,” Parinay Fuke, Chairman of the organising committee said.

Hima Das, Anas win gold in 300m in Czech Republic

Indian sprinters Hima Das and Muhammed Anas won a gold each in women’s and men’s 300m races respectively at the Athleticky Mitink Reiter event in the Czech Republic. This was Hima’s sixth gold in European races since July 2. Anas, who won the men’s 300m race in 32.41 seconds, tweeted, “Glad to have won the Gold.”

Walmart’s international Q2 operating income declines due to Flipkart

Walmart’s international operating income declined 27.3% in constant currency and 29.6% to $893 million on a reported basis in the Q2 of FY 2019-20. “This is primarily to the expected dilution from Flipkart,” Walmart’s EVP and CFO Brett Biggs said. At least 18 killed due to heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh

At least 18 people were killed and nine others injured in rain-related incidents in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday, officials said. Hundreds were stranded in the state after multiple incidents of landslides blocked roads, national highways and rail routes. District Magistrates of Kullu and Shimla districts issued circulars announcing closure of all educational institutions on Monday.

A statement from the CM’s office said BJP President Amit Shah approved the list of potential ministers on Saturday. Due to intermittent rain and strong winds, Delhiites on Saturday breathed the cleanest air in more than two years. The Air Quality Index (AQI) value improved from 53 on Friday to 49 in most parts of Delhi, which is considered to be “good”. The Income Tax Department is reportedly planning to adopt ‘non-threatening’ language to ask taxpayers whether or not an expense has been accounted for, instead of the intimidating officialese. Reportedly, the notices wouldn’t be sent in the first instance when taxpayers miss any expenditure in their filings.
