Man shot 16 times in US, walks into a hospital 3.2 km away

A 27-year-old man who was shot 16 times in Philadelphia, US, walked into a hospital 3.2 kilometres away. The victim was shot five times in his right side, among other places in his body. He underwent surgery and is in critical condition, but is expected to survive. It’s not clear whether he walked to the hospital or was transported there.

Curiosity rover takes selfie on Mars; NASA shares picture

NASA has shared a selfie taken by the Curiosity rover on Mars earlier this month. The photo is actually made up of 57 individual pictures taken by a camera on the end of Curiosity’s robotic arm. The selfie was taken at a location named Glen Etive, which is a part of the “clay-bearing unit”.

Vodafone Idea to seek relief on ₹28,000 crore payment after SC ruling

Vodafone Idea on Friday said it will ask the Department of Telecommunications for a waiver on interest and penalties payable on its licence fee dues. The loss-making mobile carrier owes ₹28,309 crore to DoT after a Supreme Court ruling required it to pay overdue levies and interest. “The judgment has financial implications, which we are reviewing,” Vodafone Idea said.

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa criticised Congress leader Siddaramaiah over his remarks on Veer Savarkar and said that he doesn’t know the “ABCD” of Savarkar. “After becoming Leader of Opposition, Siddaramaiah is talking loose,” he added. OLX India revenue rises 123% to ₹400 crore in 2018-19

Online classifieds platform OLX India has posted a 123% rise in its revenue to ₹400 crore in 2018-19 from ₹179 crore in the previous fiscal, as per regulatory filings. The platform, owned by South African conglomerate Naspers, also witnessed nearly 49% year-on-year growth in its profit to ₹23.2 crore. It has been profitable for the last three fiscal years.

Tripoto posts 100% rise in FY19 revenue to ₹9.7 crore

New Delhi-based travel community platform Tripoto Travels has posted a 100% increase in its revenue to ₹9.7 crore in 2018-19, TechCircle reported, citing regulatory filings. However, its loss in the period grew to ₹7.1 crore compared to ₹4.6 crore in the previous fiscal. Founded in 2013, Tripoto lets users share travel stories and itineraries on its platform.

A new study analysed the disinformation campaign undertaken by Russia’s Internet Research Agency in the USA from 2015 to 2017, to find that the platform Reddit was first targeted before other platforms like Twitter and Facebook. The study states that IRA was trial ballooning on one platform to figure out which messages are optimal to distribute on other social media.

Link between unique brain cells and OCD and anxiety discovered

In a new study, University of Utah scientists discovered a new lineage of specialized brain cells, called Hoxb8-lineage microglia, and established a link between the lineage and OCD and anxiety in mice. Mice with disabled Hoxb8-lineage microglia exhibited excessive overgrooming behaviour, while female sex hormones caused more severe OCD behaviours and induced added anxiety in the mice.

Family refuses to accept body of truck driver killed by terrorists in J&K

The family members of a Rajasthan truck driver, who was killed by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, have refused to accept his body which arrived on Saturday morning.
