India defeat Bangladesh to register first T20I series win at home in 2019
India defeated Bangladesh in the third T20I in Nagpur on Sunday to register a 2-1 victory in the three-match series. This is India’s first T20I series victory at home this year after having lost to Australia in February (0-2) and drawing against South Africa (1-1) in September. India have won two of their five T20I series in 2019 so far.
Chahar 1st Indian to take T20I hat-trick, records best-ever T20I figures
Pacer Deepak Chahar has become the first Indian to take a T20I hat-trick, achieving the feat by dismissing Bangladesh’s Shafiul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman and Aminul Islam in three successive deliveries in the third T20I. The 27-year-old registered figures of 3.2-0-7-6, the best-ever bowling figures in T20I history. The previous record was held by former Sri Lankan spinner Ajantha Mendis (4-2-8-6).
Chahal becomes fastest Indian to take 50 T20I wickets, breaks Bumrah’s record
Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has become the fastest Indian bowler to take 50 T20I wickets, achieving the feat in the third T20I against Bangladesh on Sunday. The 29-year-old, who registered figures of 4-0-43-1 in the match, reached 50 wickets in 34 innings. He overtook fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who had reached 50 wickets in 41 innings.
Cong releases 1st list of candidates for Jharkhand Assembly polls
The Congress on Sunday released its first list of five candidates for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections. Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee President Rameshwar Oraon would contest from Lohardaga (ST) constituency. Congress leader Ramchandra Singh would contest from Manika (ST) constituency, KN Tripathy from Daltonganj, Chandrashekhar Dubey from Bishrampur and KP Yadav from Bhawanathpur.
Delhi lawyers’ strike to continue after failed meeting with police
The District Court lawyers’ strike in Delhi would continue as the High Court-ordered meeting between the lawyers, the police and Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal failed to bring out any resolution. “Despite our cooperation, no concrete step has been taken to arrest the police persons who fired at advocates,” said Dhir Singh Kasana of All District Courts Bar Associations.
Transgender body seeks sex reassignment surgery ban on kids in Delhi
The Association for Transgender Health in India (ATHI) has written to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal requesting him to ban sex reassignment surgeries on intersex children till they are 18. “When an intersex person grows up, many times the parents do not even tell them that they have been operated on in childhood…and that can be very traumatic,” said ATHI.
Hyderabad municipality to set up outdoor air purifiers in city
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has approved a proposal to set up outdoor air purifying units at Gachibowli, Jubilee Hills, and Panjagutta, where air pollution levels increase during peak traffic hours. Strata Enviro, the firm that sent the proposal to GHMC, said it intended to provide 500 air purifying units in the first phase.
Over 50,000 expected on 1st 3 days of India’s 1st Day/Night Test
The Cricket Association of Bengal has revealed in a tweet that over 50,000 people are set to witness India’s first Day/Night Test at the Eden Gardens each day for the first three days. An official revealed that out of those 50,000 tickets, 17,000 were sold online while the remaining were distributed among affiliated members.
Three new cities to host matches in IPL 2020: Report
Following a meeting between BCCI office-bearers and the owners of the eight IPL franchises, a decision has reportedly been finalised to add three new cities namely Lucknow, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram to host some of the IPL matches next year. Notably, a few of the franchises are reportedly keen to play international friendlies with the other cricket clubs around the world.

Uber told to compensate disabled man after drivers cancelled rides
The Delhi Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities has asked Uber to compensate within three months a traveller with disability for causing him financial loss and mental trauma. Arman Ali said two Uber drivers cancelled his ride, one of whom refused to accommodate his wheelchair inside the cab. Ali said he consequently missed his flight and spent ₹14,000 to book another.
Maruti Suzuki cuts production for ninth month in a row
Maruti Suzuki reduced its production for the ninth month in a row in October by nearly 21%. The automaker produced 1,19,337 vehicles in October, as compared to 1,50,497 units in the same month last year. The production figures for its passenger vehicles were at 1,17,383 units during the month, down 21% from the year-ago period.
Bolivian Prez agrees to hold new polls after irregularities found
Bolivian President Evo Morales agreed to hold fresh presidential elections after the Organization of American States (OAS) report found irregularities in the October 20 vote won by him. Protests against Morales began after poll results were declared, with some policemen joining them. “[M]anipulations to computer systems are of such magnitude that they must be deeply investigated,” OAS report said.
Blast in Iraq injures five Italian soldiers: Italy
The Italian military on Sunday said that three out of five soldiers were seriously injured in an explosion in Iraq. The military said that an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated as a team of Italian special forces passed close by. Reports said that the wounded soldiers did not suffer life-threatening injuries and were evacuated to safety by US helicopters.

Maharashtra Governor invites Shiv Sena to form govt after BJP refuses offer Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has invited Shiv Sena, which was the second largest party in the Maharashtra Assembly polls, to indicate willingness and ability to form government. Shiv Sena has been given time till 7.30 pm on Monday. This comes after BJP, the single largest party, refused the offer, saying Shiv Sena betrayed the mandate.
