India Set To Buy Iranian Oil In November Despite U.S. Sanctions (India)
Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said that Indian companies made nominations to buy Iranian oil despite the risk sanctions by USA. “Two days ago two of our companies made nominations to purchase Iranian oil in November. We do not know if we will get waiver or not,” he said at The Energy Forum, adding India now had new diplomatic power.

2019 LS polls may see a grand alliance minus the congress (India)
In the run up to the assembly elections for the five states, there have been a series of announcements in which regional parties decided to ditch the Congress. While all these parties, including the BSP and SP have said that this decision pertains to the assembly polls alone, there is a huge question mark on whether this would play out in 2019 as well.

RBI Officer Grade B Phase 2 Exam Result 2018 (India)
The RBI Grade B Phase 2 Result 2018 has been declared. The results are available on the official website. The second phase of the RBI Grade B exam was conducted on September 15 and 16. The marks list and category wise cut-off of the examination will be displayed on the website after completion of the selection process and declaration of final results.

The RPSC RAS Prelims 2018 Result & RAS 2016 Revised Results will be declared this week. The results once declared will be available on the official website. RPSC had organised the RPSC RAS/RTS Examination on Sunday, 5th August 2018, across the state of Rajasthan and had released its Answer Keys in the same week.

The Konkan Railway Corporation Limited has issued fresh vacancies with 7th Pay Commission benefits, as part of the Railway Recruitment 2018. The notification has been released for the post of Senior Section Engineer in various Technical Departments. The last date to fill in the onloine applications for the same is October 18, 2018.

Sachin Pilot targets Centre over Rajasthan (India)
Rajasthan state Congress chief Sachin Pilot on Monday, October 8, questioned the reason behind holding the Assembly elections in the state in the last leg which is December 7 and criticised the BJP-led Centre over it. Of the five states going to election in November and December, Rajasthan and Telangana will see polling on December 7 while that in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram will be over by November 28.

Rohingyas living near Army installations (India)
Concerned with the issue of Rohingya Muslims, the Military Intelligence has now sought details about those living close to defence installations in Hyderabad. There are around 4,500 Rohingyas living in various parts of Hyderabad and the intelligence has signaled a concern. Many of them live very close to defence installations and this is a major security risk.

Trump apologizes to Brett Kavanaugh for “unfair treatment” (World)
US President Donald Trump has apologized to Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh for “unfair treatment” he faced following allegations of sexual assault. Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court by the Senate after a 50-48 vote in his favor. Trump said that Kavanaugh was the victim of a campaign of lies and suffered “terrible pain” after the allegations.

Student becomes British High Commissioner for 24 hours (World)
An Indian student named Esha Bahal was named British High Commissioner to India for a duration of 24 hours. The political science student, who studies at a Noida university, was given the chance as an observance of the International Day of the Girl Child. A total of 58 students had entered the competition by submitting videos, and hers was selected.

Top Egyptian terrorist captured by security forces in Libya (World)
Hisham al-Ashmawy, a top terrorist from Egypt was captured by Libyan security forces in an operation carried out in the city of Darnah. Ashmawy, an ex army officer, was responsible for numerous deadly attacks in Egypt. He had a suicide vest strapped to him when he was captured, the Libyan National Army revealed. He was unable to detonate the vest in time.

Juventus rule out Pogba return (Sports)
Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici ruled out a return to the club for midfielder Paul Pogba. The 25-year-old has been linked with a return to Turin amid reports of a falling out with under-fire United manager Jose Mourinho. The France international left Juve for Old Trafford in a then-record €105million move in August 2016.

Income Tax Returns filing deadline extended again (Business)
The Central Board of Direct Taxes on Monday extended by a fortnight till October 31 the deadline for filing Income Tax return (ITR) and audit report for the financial year 2017-18. This is the 2nd extension within a fortnight. Earlier, the CBDT extended the deadline for taxpayers whose accounts have to be audited from September 30 to October 15.

Oil marketing companies halt aviation fuel supply to Air India (Business)
The oil marketing companies have reportedly suspended supply of aviation fuel to Air India over payment issues. Sources said fuel supply for Air India has been suspended at 8 locations- Mohali, Patna, Pune, Trivandrum, Lucknow, Vishakhapatnam, Coimbatore and Jaipur. The debt-ridden national carrier reportedly owes a total of Rs 5000 crore to oil marketing companies.

Infosys Foundation on Monday announced Rs 1.5 crore reward to push innovation in social work. Under the CSR policy, the foundation will select 3 individuals or NGOs and give them a reward of up to Rs 50 lakh. Under the govt rules, it is mandatory for some company to spend at least 2% of the average net profits in some social work each year.
