US President Donald Trump, in a telephonic conversation with Pakistan PM Imran Khan, discussed “the need to reduce tensions and moderate rhetoric with India over the situation in J&K,” the White House said. This came after Trump’s 30-minute conversation with PM Narendra Modi on Monday. PM Modi told Trump that “extreme rhetoric by some leaders was not conducive to peace.”
Man who went viral for running 100m in 11s finishes last in trials
Rameshwar Gurjar, a man from Madhya Pradesh, who went viral after running 100 metres in 11 seconds barefoot on a road, finished last in trials conducted by Sports Authority of India (SAI) in Bhopal. Rameshwar landed the trials after Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju assured to get him inducted at SAI. Rameshwar said that he will give the trial once again.
17 MLAs take oath as Karnataka Cabinet Ministers in BJP-led govt

Fresh FIR against SP MP Azam Khan, wife for usurping land

Rapido acquihires Mumbai-based data analytics startup Vahanalytics
Bengaluru-based bike-hailing startup Rapido in its recent Registrar of Companies filings stated that it has acquihired Mumbai-based startup Vahanalytics, that uses data and machine learning to make roads safer. Malaysia bans Naik from giving speeches after remarks against Hindus
Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, who’s wanted in India for inciting terror, has been banned from giving speeches anywhere in Malaysia. Naik was questioned for more than 10 hours recently by Malaysian authorities after he made controversial statements against the country’s ethnic Chinese community and Hindu population. Notably, India had earlier requested Malaysia for the preacher’s extradition.
Train engine gets detached, runs without coaches for 10 km in Andhra
The engine of Visakha Express that plies between Bhubaneswar and Secunderabad got detached from its coaches in Andhra Pradesh on Monday. The engine travelled around 10 km without the coaches, following which investigation was ordered into the incident. While all the passengers onboard were safe, the cause of engine getting detached is yet to be ascertained.
Army was ready for ground escalation by Pak post Balakot: Army chief
Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat has said the Army was ready for “any eventuality” after the Balakot airstrikes and the same was conveyed to government. “Army was ready for any ground escalation by Pakistan after the Balakot operations,” Rawat said. The IAF had prepared for both offensive and defence operations and had positioned its frontline aircraft in forward locations.

Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath’s nephew Ratul Puri has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with an alleged ₹354-crore bank fraud case. This comes after Ratul and his father, Moser Baer’s Founder Deepak Puri, were booked by the CBI over the alleged fraud. Earlier, ED told a Delhi court that Ratul was evading probe in the case.
Obama’s high school basketball jersey auctioned for ₹86 lakh
A basketball jersey once owned by former US President Barack Obama has been sold for $120,000 (around ₹86 lakh), an auction house in US’ Dallas said. The number 23 jersey belonged to 18-year-old Obama while he was a senior at a high school in Hawaii. The jersey was valued at $100,000 before it was sold.
Delhi HC seeks Centre, J&K govt’s stand on Shah Faesal’s plea
The Delhi High Court on Monday sought to know the Centre, J&K government and state police’s stand on a plea filed by former IAS officer Shah Faesal against his detention. Faesal has claimed he was detained illegally at the Delhi airport and sent to Kashmir Valley against his wishes. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the government, opposed Faesal’s contention.

Govt may use legislative ways for anomalies in NRC: Assam CM
Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday said that legislative routes may be explored over any wrongful inclusions or exclusions in the National Register of Citizens (NRC) after its publication on August 31. NRC’s final draft published in 2018 had excluded over 40 lakh people. Reportedly, over 30 lakh applications were sent for inclusion and over 2 lakh for exclusion.
