Inaugurating the Kartarpur Corridor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invoked Guru Nanak Dev and called it a new historic chapter which was scripted. He further thanked Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan Niazi for respecting the sentiments of India. The first jatha of Indian Sikh pilgrims have arrived in Pakistan through the Kartarpur Corridor which will welcome 5,000 pilgrims per day. Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, a 4.7-kilometre-long passage which connects Dera Baba Nanak Sahib in India’s Gurdaspur and Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan will formally be opened today for pilgrims three days ahead of 550th anniversary of the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev on November 12. Separate ceremonies were held on either side of the border to inaugurate the corridor which will provide access to Indian pilgrims to the final resting place of Guru Nanak Dev who died at the start of the 16th century, ANI reported.
