3 dead, 5 injured due to heavy rains in Mumbai
Three persons lost their lives and five others were injured in rain-related incidents on Friday in Mumbai. A Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) spokesperson said that three died of electric shocks, while two others were injured in two separate incidents in the western suburbs. Waterlogging was also reported in many parts of the city after a few hours of heavy rains.
Centre spent ₹3,800 crore on publicity of govt schemes: Govt
Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Friday informed the Lok Sabha that Centre has spent over ₹3,800 crore on the publicity of government schemes in the last three years. Javadekar also gave a breakup saying, in 2018-19, ₹429.55 crore was spent on print media, ₹514.29 crore on audiovisual, ₹235.33 crore on outdoor publicity and ₹16.77 crore on printed publicity.

15 dead as wall of apartment complex collapses due to rain in Pune
At least 15 people, including four children, died on Saturday after a wall of an apartment complex collapsed on to adjacent huts in Maharashtra’s Pune. Some people are reported to be trapped as the rescue operations are underway. Meanwhile, District Collector Naval Kishore Ram said the wall collapsed due to heavy rainfall, adding that the government will help the affected.
70 wedding guests hospitalised after lizard found in food
Over 70 wedding guests underwent a medical check-up in a hospital after a dead lizard was found in the food at a marriage ceremony in Dumka district, Jharkhand. Several guests reportedly fell ill and started vomiting after the lizard was found. Meanwhile, SP YS Ramesh said that doctors confirmed that the guests were out of danger.

The investment came from American investment management firm Invesco. India’s forex reserves hit record high of $426.42 billion
India’s foreign exchange reserves touched a life-time high of $426.42 billion as of June 21, up $4.215 billion from a week ago, the RBI said on Friday. The previous high was attained on April 13, 2018, when it was $426.08 billion. Foreign currency assets, a major component of the overall reserves, increased by $4.2 billion to $398.65 billion.

Team sent to retrieve bodies of AN-32 victims stuck at crash site
A team of 12 rescuers that retrieved bodies of 13 people who were on board IAF’s AN-32 aircraft which crashed in the mountains of Arunachal Pradesh this month has been stuck at the crash site. “The weather condition is not conducive at all to lift them,” officials said. The rescuers have been at the crash site since June 12.
Serve almonds, not biscuits in ministry meetings: Health Ministry
Health Ministry has issued a circular stating that only healthy snacks like dates, almond, walnuts and ‘bhuna channa’ would be served in official meetings of the department and biscuits will be avoided. The circular further stated that the departmental canteen would no longer dispense biscuits or cookies. It also urged officials to follow order of not using plastic water bottles.
₹4 lakh ex-gratia for kin of deceased in Pune wall collapse
Maharashtra Minister Chandrakant Patil has announced ex-gratia compensation of ₹4 lakh each from the NDRF fund for families of the 15 people who died in the Pune wall collapse incident. Patil added that a committee formed to probe the incident will submit a primary report within 24 hours. Meanwhile, three people who were rescued are undergoing treatment for serious injuries.
Heavy rainfall in Mumbai for next 3 days, predicts IMD
The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in Mumbai for the next three days. Further, on Saturday, the minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 24 degree Celsius and 31 degree Celsius with relative humidity at 89%.
