New Zealand captain Kane Williamson on Saturday became the third-fastest batsman to reach 6,000 ODI runs, achieving the feat during his 51-ball 40-run knock against Australia in 2019 World Cup. Williamson reached the milestone in his 139th ODI innings, three more than India captain Virat Kohli. South Africa’s Hashim Amla is the fastest to reach the 6,000-run mark (123 innings).

5 people injured in clash between TMC and BJP in Bengal
At least five people were injured in a clash which broke out between TMC and BJP workers in West Bengal’s Bardhaman on Saturday. In one of the incidents that was reported on Saturday, two TMC workers were admitted to a hospital after they were attacked with a sharp weapon. Two more such incidents were reported from Bengal’s Purba Bardhaman yesterday.
First batch of 2,234 Amarnath yatris flagged off from Jammu
Advisor to the Jammu and Kashmir Governor, KK Sharma on Sunday flagged off the first batch of 2,234 devotees for the Amarnath Yatra from the Jammu base camp. The pilgrims comprised of 1,839 males, 333 females, 17 children and 45 sadhus left the base camp amid tight security. The annual pilgrimage to Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine is commencing from Monday.

At least one terrorist was shot down in an encounter which broke out with the security forces on Sunday in Chadoora area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district. Reportedly, mobile internet services have been suspended in Budgam. On Friday, security forces gunned down a terrorist when a gunfight broke out between the forces and militants in Budgam.
2 held with cannabis worth ₹6 lakh in Mumbai: Police
The Mumbai police have seized 69 kilograms of cannabis and arrested two people in connection with its trade from the city. The police seized 12.5 kilograms of cannabis on June 27 and 56.5 kilograms more cannabis later from their possession. The police received information about the two smugglers and detained them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Lenders approve JSW Steel’s bid to buy Asian Colour Coated Ispat
The committee of creditors of steel mill Asian Colour Coated Ispat approved JSW Steel’s offer to acquire the stressed steel plant. Asian Colour Coated Ispat has an outstanding debt of over ₹5,000 crore. The bid reportedly includes a ₹1,525 crore upfront payment to lenders and another ₹25 crore payment to operational creditors.
PwC resigns as statutory auditor for Eveready Industries
Global audit firm PwC on Friday resigned as statutory auditor for battery maker Eveready Industries. PwC said it has not been able to analyse the impact of financial support extended by the company to its promoter group entities. Singhi & Co has been appointed as the new auditor for Eveready with effect from June 29.
Boeing 737 MAX software outsourced to workers from HCL, Cyient
Boeing engaged workers from India’s HCL and Cyient to develop 737 MAX’s flight-display and flight-test equipment software, Bloomberg reported. The work done by HCL engineers “was far less efficient than Boeing engineers just writing the code,” an ex-Boeing software engineer said. Boeing said it didn’t rely on HCL and Cyient for MCAS system, which was linked to two recent crashes.
India ranked 74th in money with Swiss banks, UK retains top spot
An analysis by the Swiss National Bank has ranked India at 74th position in terms of money parked by individuals and enterprises in Swiss banks, about 0.07% of funds by all foreign clients of Switzerland-based banks in 2018. The UK topped the list with over 26% of such funds. It’s followed by the US, West Indies, France and Hong Kong.
Air India losing ₹6 cr daily due to Pakistan’s airspace closure
National carrier Air India has been losing around ₹6 crore every day because of Pakistan’s airspace ban on its eastern border with India, a spokesperson said. It has been forced to cancel some flights and reroute some others as a result of the ban. Pakistan on Thursday extended the airspace closure on its eastern border with India till July 12.

Nitin Gadkari proposes Alibaba-like platform for MSME sector
Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Nitin Gadkari has suggested the development of an Alibaba or Amazon-like “marketing platform” to make MSMEs accessible to the world. He proposed the creation of a website named ‘Bank of ideas, innovation and research’ where people can post suggestions. The MSME sector currently contributes to 29% of the GDP, he said.
