Uber made its IPO at the New York Stock Exchange on Friday.

The Hinduja brothers have been named the UK’s wealthiest people for the third time, according to Sunday Times Rich List. Sri and Gopi Hinduja saw their wealth increase by £1.35 billion from last year to £22 billion (around ₹2 lakh crore). The Hinduja Group was founded in Mumbai in 1914 and operates in fields including oil, banking, IT and property.
PVR’s 65% revenue comes from tickets, 27% from food & beverages: MD
Multiplex giant PVR’s Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Bijli has said that around 65% of the company’s revenue comes from ticket sales while 25-27% comes from food and beverages (F&B). The contribution from F&B may also increase, he added. PVR on Friday reported 84.43% year-on-year increase in its consolidated net profits to ₹47.75 crore for the quarter ended March 2019.

Germany opens first ‘electric highway’ test track for trucks
Germany has opened its first electric highway test route for hybrid trucks in Hesse. The trucks are equipped with electric motor, diesel engine and batteries that can be charged from overhead power lines. The government has funded the pilot project’s construction with €14.6 million along with €15.3 million available for conducting field trials in Hesse, which will run till 2022.

Home guard accidentally fires bullet, Bihar polling official killed
An election official was killed after being hit by a bullet inadvertently fired from a home guard’s rifle at a polling booth in Bihar’s Sheohar district. The official was identified as Shivendra Kishor, a government teacher belonging to the state’s Sitamarhi district. A police official said that the home guard mistakenly fired the bullet while he was cleaning his rifle.
Pak couple caught living with fake Aadhaar cards in B’luru deported
A Pakistani couple, convicted of illegally entering India and creating Aadhaar cards using fake documents while living in Bengaluru, was deported to Pakistan on Saturday. The husband and wife were handed over to Pakistani authorities at the Wagah-Attari border. The couple was arrested in May 2017 along with another Pakistani woman who had married an Indian.
TN to implement Economically Weaker Section quota soon, issues order
Tamil Nadu government has issued an order to district collectors for issuing income and asset certificates to persons belonging to general category for availing reservation under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) quota. The order said a person should not own five acres of agriculture land and above. For calculating the income, family members’ income from all sources will be considered.

₹1,000-crore drugs seized from house owned by IPS in biggest raid
In the country’s biggest ever drugs seizure, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has recovered 1,818 kg of pseudoephedrine worth over ₹1,000 crore from a house in Greater Noida and arrested two Nigerian nationals, and one South African national. The house which belongs to an IPS officer was being used as a drug-manufacturing unit. The officer had rented out the house.

Harvard University law professor Ronald Sullivan Jr, who joined the legal team defending #MeToo accused Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, is being relieved of his position as faculty dean of an undergraduate house. The Ivy League university’s move follows protests over his representation of Weinstein. Sullivan and his wife Stephanie Robinson are the first black faculty deans in Harvard’s history.
Pilot lands plane carrying 89 with no front wheel in Myanmar A pilot landed a plane carrying 89 people with no front wheel in Myanmar’s Mandalay on Sunday after the aircraft’s landing gear failed. All the passengers and crew members inside the Myanmar National Airlines flight were safe. The touchdown was the second instance of a malfunctioning flight in less than a week within the country.
