“Don’t forget the basics, gain expertise in the chosen domain and have the right and positive attitude,” are the principles that Debashish Bhattacharjee abides by in his professional life, and feels that they are timeless enough to be relevant to the youth at any day and from any generation.
Debashish passed out from IIPM in the year 1998, after a degree in Bachelors of Physics from the Delhi University. He was part of the placement team, and worked as a Placement Coordinator during his college days. Debashish has a successful track record of around 14 years when it comes to setting up businesses, increasing market share & achieving sales growth in the IT industry. During this tenure, he was associated with a reputed system integrator & an IT MNC – Storage Tek & Sun Microsystems in India. He has immense knowledge in the field of IT infrastructure & Solution Sales, with an expertise in Data Storage Solution Sales. He is now associated with Fujitsu India Private Ltd., as its Country Manager – Storage.
Debashish reminisces his entire experience in management education as very enriching, both personally and professionally. As he professes, IIPM played a vital & indispensable role and helped him acquire the basic business understanding and skills necessary in one’s career. He has fond memories of college and the time spent with friends at college canteens & misses his hostel days.
On the question of rising up the corporate ladder, Debashish admits that the first job definitely plays a crucial role as it is an important milestone in a person’s life, when the person sets out to face the corporate world on his own and make an independent place for himself. He considers himself fortunate to be a part of the IT industry, which is growing at a breakneck pace.
At work, Debashish follows a participatory style of leadership, and believes in achieving targets with collective team efforts. He has a successful experience when it comes to leading and managing Direct as well as Virtual teams; including virtual team members from different countries with different backgrounds. Personally, he likes spending time with his family at home on weekends and also networking with school & college friends.
