“You Must Have The Ability To Communicate The Big Picture To Your Team.”

Chandru Kalro, MD, TTK Prestige, says a leader must learn to give more credit and expect less praise from the team as he discusses his thoughts on leadership with B&E.

What are your most powerful leadership techniques?

Chandru Kalro (CK): I will start with the essentials first:

Good listening skills: A good leader must be a great listener. This will make sure all the bad news travels as fast as the good news.

Empathy: The job at hand is also the leaders. Getting the job done rather than doing it oneself means a lot of empathy is required.

Work for the greater good of the system: This is absolutely important. This way sustainability is always a priority.

Imbibe a great culture: A culture of honesty, commitment and loyalty. A trait of what I can do first before I get the team to work is important.

A leader who works with this intent will find all that is needed to create a great system.

(CK): Some is inborn as part of you. Some can be developed. The trick is to understand the needs correctly. What is inborn can be worked on with new traits that can be developed.
