UAE woman wakes up from coma after 27 years

A woman from the UAE named Munira Abdulla woke up from a 27-year-long coma last year after treatment in Germany, her son Omar has revealed. Munira went into a coma after getting seriously injured in a road accident in 1991, at the age of 32. Omar claims his mother woke up after she heard him arguing in the hospital room.

NASA mission detects first possible ‘Marsquake’, shares audio

Scientists on Tuesday revealed that they might have detected the first known seismic tremor on Mars. The audio was recorded by a dome-shaped seismometer on April 6 that landed with NASA’s InSight spacecraft last November. The team said they were working to confirm the cause of the “marsquake” and ensure it came from the planet’s interior rather than wind distortion.

NIA arrests terror suspect planning attacks in Delhi, UP

The NIA on Tuesday arrested a key conspirator who was planning to carry out terrorist attacks in Delhi NCR and UP. The NIA said, “Mohd Faiz was found to be the main member of the Pro-IS module Harkat Ul Harb-e-Islam, and was instrumental in bringing other members besides founding the group.” Faiz is the fourteenth accused arrested in the case.

Justice Bobde to probe sexual harassment allegations against CJI

Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi has appointed Justice SA Bobde to conduct an in-house inquiry into sexual harassment allegations levelled against the CJI himself. Justice Bobde told PTI that he has decided to form a panel by inducting two apex court judges – Justice NV Ramana and Justice Indira Banerjee. Justice Bobde is next to the CJI in seniority.

Amateur team makes galaxy photo worth 1,060 stargazing hours

A team of amateur French astronomers has captured separately and then stitched together a photo of Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) worth 1,060 hours of exposure time. As per a blog named AstroSpace, the image is a mosaic of 16 smaller fields of view stitched together to make a 204-million-pixel-resolution photo. The team dubbed ‘Ciel Austral’ used Chile’s El Sauce Observatory.

Tata Global Beverages to buy Dhunseri’s branded tea biz for ₹101 cr

Tata Global Beverages on Tuesday said it will acquire the branded tea business of Dhunseri Tea & Industries for an aggregate consideration of ₹101 crore. Kolkata-based Dhunseri’s tea business is carried out under the brands ‘Lalghoda’ and ‘Kalaghoda’. The business accounted for nearly ₹70 crore of its overall turnover of ₹177 crore as of March 2018, Chairman CK Dhanuka said.

EU tariffs on Harley-Davidson unfair, will reciprocate: Trump

US President Donald Trump has threatened to retaliate against EU tariffs imposed on Harley-Davidson. “So unfair to US. We will Reciprocate!” he tweeted after the motorcycle-maker partially blamed the tariffs for its 27% drop in first-quarter profit. Notably, Trump had earlier called for a boycott of Harley-Davidson following its decision to move some US production overseas to avoid EU tariffs.
